Flash Back Friday (a few days late) ...

Well ... I made it two whole weeks of  "Flash Back Friday's".

And then I totally forgot to do it this past Friday.

Yeah me for sticking for sticking with something an following through with it.

*shrugging shoulders*

Oh well.

So ...

Here it is ...

A blog from "back in the day".

Well ... if you consider October 25 2010 "back in the day" ...

**********
It is red Ribbon Week at Eudora Elementary School this week. Which means my kiddos are learning what drugs exactly are ...

Which leads me to the point of this blog ...

Picture this ...

I am in the living room. Harleigh is standing in front of me ... telling me about her gymnastic class she just came from. Clint is outside taking the trash out.

Suddenly ... out of left field ... the subject makes a complete 180 turn ...

Harleigh: Mommy ... is Daddy on drugs?

Me: No. Daddy is not on drugs ... but there are alot of people out in the world that are on drugs.

Harleigh: Are you SURE Daddy is not hooked on drugs.

*while she is flashing me a very curious look*

Me: Uhhh ... yeah I am sure Daddy is not hooked on drugs.

Harleigh: Well ... at school today they told us that beer has drugs in it. And people can get addicted to beer if they drink to much of it. So ... are you SURE Daddy is not on drugs.

*hands on her hips-head tilted just slightly-very serious look on her face*

Me: Go ask your Dad.

*dumb founded look on my face*

At that EXACT MOMENT ... in walks Clint through the back door. Harleigh makes a bee line for him ... as I am trying to give him that *you are not gonna believe what YOUR child just asked me* look from across the room.

To late ... he does not catch my look.

Harleigh: Daddy ... are you hooked on drugs?

Clint: Yes ... there are some people out there that are hooked on drugs.

*me trying to wave my hands like a crazy woman in the background in hopes of for warning Clint what is about to come*

Nope ... he still did not see me.

Harleigh: NO! Are YOU hooked on drugs?

Clint: HUH?!?!?!

*shocked look on his face*

Harleigh: Well ... at school they said that beer has drugs in it. And ... you do drink alot of beer sometimes ... especially when football is on.

Clint suddenly flashes me a look of *did you tell her to say this*. I quickly flash a look back that is slightly *I told you not to drink beer in front of the kids* mixed with a *Harleigh calls it as she sees it* sprinkled with a *OMG* look.

I can hardly wait to see how Clint is gonna dig himself out of this one! This is gonna be good!

Clint: I am of the legal age. So it is ok, Harleigh.

*quickly turning around and making a bee line for the kitchen*

Harleigh: Huh?!?!?

*standing there with a dumb founded look on her face*

Yep ... I think we just might win parents of the year!!!

It is game day fellow Hawk fans!!!

It is the day I have been waiting for ALL week!!!

It is FINALLY game day!!!

Infact ... I am blogging this post at 12:08 am Saturday morning.  So there is officially T-minus 19 hours and 32 minutes till tip off!!!

Which means the superstitious "game day" rituals will be in full swing come 7:45 this evening.  And let me tell you ... Clint and I are VERY superstitious when it comes to tournament time.  I told you in a previous blog post ... we DO NOT wanna be the reason that KU lost.  Who wants that on their shoulders clear until next basketball season?!?!?!  Sure not us!!!

And when I say that we are superstitious ... I literally mean ... we are superstitious!!!

Last year we made homemade french fries before EVERY SINGLE KU game during tournament season ... because ... well ... we made them the first game ... and we won ... so we had to keep on doing it.

Clint wore the same red KU hat a few years back during EVERY SINGLE KU game ... and refused to let me wash it ... because ... well ... it was his good luck charm.

I wore the same pair of pajama pants ... leopard print to be exact ... EVERY SINGLE KU game the year we won the National Championship.  There was NO WAY I was NOT gonna wear those pajama pants during  game.  We were on a roll that year ... and I KNEW it had EVERYTHING to do with those lucky leopard print pajama pants.  Infact ... we threw a party during the KU vs. North Carolina game ... and at tip off ... I went to go put those lucky pajama pants on ... even though we had a house full of people.  AND. IT. WORKED.  We won the National Championship that year.

If KU has been down ... and Clint or I stepped out of the room ... and KU started to come back.  That person had to stay in the kitchen until the game was done ... because they were "jinxing" the game.  True. Story.

I'm telling ya ... we take this winning thing to heart.  Big. Time.

So ... that leads us to the Final Four game that KU is about to play at 7:45 this evening.

For the past 2 games ... Clint has cracked open a beer right at tip off ... and I have sported a pair of Christma pajama pants.  And let me tell you ... next year when basketball season starts ... I am gonna rethink this whole "lucky pajama" pants thing.  I am literally COOKING in 80 degree weather in those pajama pants.  BUT ... I decided to be daring during the Big 12 Tournament ... and wore a pair of capri's bcause I was so darn hot ... and we lost.  Yes ... blame me ... we lost because I changed up my wardrobe.  Damn it.

SO ... you can COUNT on the fact that I will have on my navy blue Christmas pajama pants this evening ... 85 degrees and all.

Since everyone on the cul-de-sac comes over and watches the game at our house ... we have dragged them into our superstitious-bundle-of-hell as well.

Jeremy has to drink whiskey out of a styrofoam cup in his KU shirt while sitting in his yellow chair.  And he must say "brick" every single time the other team shoots ... because ... well ... it jinx's them.

Dallas did have on a KU shirt 2 games prior ... but his KU shirt was in the wash last Sunday ... so he is absolutely NOT ALLOWED to wear a KU shirt this evening.  Nope.  Not. Allowed.  Plus ... he must sit in our KU chair in the center of the garage.  OH!!!  AND Dallas MUST check us all in on facebook.  Don't forget Dallas!!!

Olivia MUST have her dog Buddy sitting on her lap while drinking a beer.   If she can find some gelato to eat during halftime ... that would be great ... because that is what she did last Sunday.  Plus ... she MUST sit in our KU chair next to Dallas.

Darren has to be in his Nebraska Husker shirt.  Yes ... I said Nebraska Husker.  I realize it is completely the wrong team ... but he is a Husker fan ... but cheers for the Hawks when the Huskers are not on ... so we allow him to be apart of the Jayhawk cul-de-sac crew.  *smile*  He MUST sit in our KU chair next to Oliva.

Then there is my gal Laura ... 2 games prior she left and went home a bit early ... and KU nearly lost the game.  So I informed her asked her ever so nicely to never leave early again.  OH!!!  Plus ... she gets to sport some ubber cute pajama pants at tip off as well ... because ... well ... she had them on Sunday ... and what happened on Sunday ... must happen today as well.

So there you have it ...

Our superstitious ritual that must happen before 7:45 this evening.

We are all doing our part to win this game tonight ...

So please put on those pink undies or ripped jeans or blue t-shirt or silk bra or plaid boxers or red KU shirt and help us win the game.

Rock Chalk!!!

I personally can not think of anything better than cheese!!!

I. Love. Cheese.

My middle daughter would eat cheese morning noon and night if I let her.

Mmmmm!!!

Yummy!!!

So when I came across this yummy cheese bite recipe ...

I was hooked at the word ...

Cheese!!!

They were gone in 2.5 seconds once I pulled them out of the oven last night.

So. Good.

OH!!!  I forgot the best part!!!  They are BAKED!!!  NOT fried in a bucket of heart stopping grease!!!  Yeah!!!  No joke!!!  See ... they are sounding better and better aren't they?!?!?!

OH SO GOOD CHEESE BALLS
(my middle daughter decided that this
is what they were gonna be called for here on out)

What you will need:

String cheese

Milk

Bread crumbs

What you will do:

Preheat the oven to 425

Cut the string cheese into bite size cheese bits of heaven

Drop the bite size pieces of cheese bits of heaven into the milk ...

Then into the bread crumbs.

Place on a cookie sheet

Cook for about 10 to 15 minutes ...

Keep an eye on them.  I can not honestly tell you the exact moment I pulled them out.  I just kept checking on them ... and once I could saw the gooey goodness start to pop out of the crust ... I pulled them out.

Serve with some marinara sauce ...

And ...

Poof!!!

You are in cheese heaven.

Boys are just gross ...

There will be no blogging today.

I am on a mission.

It is ...

Mission clean up Eythen's war zone.

Boys are just gross.

Plain. And. Simple.

I am not even 1/4 of a way INTO his room and I have alrady found dirty socks, fruit chew wrappers, stepped on 856 legos, found parts to Transformers ... but not the whole Transformer, a banana peel (I am 95% sure I responded with "No" yesterday when he asked me if he could eat his banana upstairs last night.  But then again ... I was talking to Clint on the phone for his evening break and making dinner ... so the blame could be on me.  Possibly.  I can spot a dirty towel, a fork and Breeanna's dance bag in the horizon.

Heaven help me.

If you do not hear from me in the next 48 hours ... send in reinforments.

On the Eve of the Elite 8 game ...

If there is one thing that you should know about me and my family ...

We are die hard KU fans.

Through. And. Through.

The crimson and blue.  Waving the wheat.  Paying heed to all who enter.  The rock chalk chant.

It is in our blood.

If you are a fellow KU fan ... you know that we are a unique bunch of fans.

We love our KU basketball team.

We might possibly be are obsessed with KU basketball.

Plain and simple.

When KU wins ... we all win.  We share in the victory. When KU looses ... we all loose. We hurt as much as they hurt.  Our world literally stops ... and we take a moment hours of silence.  I am pretty sure a KU loss is also concidered a sick day when it comes to working the following day.

We take every loss to heart.  We blame it on ourselves.  We truely feel like it is OUR fault that KU lost a basketball game.  Did we not cheer loud enough?  Did we forget to wear our lucky underware?  Did we not drink enough beer during the second half?

We do not care for K-State Wildcats ... the whole "E-Moo" ... "E-Meow" ... "E- whatever it is" ... we don't get it. Plain and simple. But I can promise you that we would MUCH rather sit next to a Wildcat fan at Applebee's and share a beer ... than those darn Missouri Tigers. Barf. I promise you that KU fans around the world were jumping for joy when K-State wiped the floor with Missouri this past basketball season. Go State!

We hold grudges like nobody else.  We will never forgive Roy for leaving us ... but would never trade Bill Self for the world.  In fact ... we are certain that Bill Self should run for President.  And with the KU fans support ... he would probably win.

Speaking of Roy ... we also do not like North Carolina.  Period.

When it comes to tournament time ... we cringe when we have to play a "no-name team" that starts with a letter "B".

The letters VCU ... still make us pissed off upset to this day.

We all know the Rock Chalk chant ... and get goose bumps everytime we hear it barrelling through out every inch of Allen Field House.  It is a sound like no other.  Simply. Amazing.

Allen Field house is the only place where you and 16,000 of your closest friends can get together for a couple of hours and have the time of your life cheering for the alli-ops and slam dunks.  All the while screaming at Tyshaun for turning over the darn ball for the 900th time.

KU fan's ... still talk about that life changing moment when Chalmers shot that 3 point shot.  We talk about it like it was yesterday.  After all ... it was "The shot that was heard around the world" ... and will forever be one of the most amazing moments in our lives.

Like I said ... we are a unique bunch of fans.

So here we are.  On the Eve of our biggest game yet this season.

At 4:00 on Sunday we will be playing North Carolina ... and stupid Roy.

And. I'm. Nervous.

Like ... sick to my stomach nervous.

Sure this is what March Madness is all about.  But when you have been as awesome as KU ... for as long as KU has been awesome ... games like this mean everthing.  It is the second time we have crossed pathes courts with Roy since he packed his shit up and left.  We beat them last time ... and went all the way to winning the National Championship.  So as you can see ... this is not "just another game" for KU fans ... it is everything.  Sure there are times that we ... get over confident ... conceited ... cocky ... and become snobby ass-holes ... but that by gosh ... makes us a KU fan.  And I would not trade this group of trash talkin-basketball-lovin-group of KU fans for the world.  And that my friends ... makes us awesome.

We. Are. Kansas.

Flash Back Fridays ...

This was a blog post that I wrote on January 11th ... 2007

That I titled ... I will look back on this and laugh ...

***********

Ok ...

How it happened ... I do not know.

Why it happened ... I do not know.

When exactally it happened ... I do not know.

Well ...

Let me just start from the beginning.

I was back in Clint's & my room folding laundry.  I was clear back by the bathroom because our new puppy likes to drag the clothes off & I was tired of chasing her all over the house to get my underware back.

Harleigh & Eythen were watching Dora the Explorer ... or so I thought.

Harleigh came into my room and said "Mommy ... Eythen just colored on the wall."

I told her that I would be there in a second.

In my head ... I thought he got one of the crayons out and scribbled on the wall. Nothing big.  Nothing to rush into the living room for.  He was 2 ... he could not do that big of damage.  It could wait until I was done folding the laundry ... right?!?!?!

WRONG!!!

I walked out of our room heading down the hallway when I spotted it ... the CANVAS of markers ON MY HALLWAY!!!!  Holy marker batman!!!!!  Both sides of the hallway were covered just high enough to where their little hands could not reach it anymore.

I say "they" because I found out later that Harleigh was part of the "master plan".

I stood there in shock.

Then at the end of the hallway I spotted Eythen admiring his artwork IN THE LIVING ROOM!!!  Holy shit!!!  My walls in the living room were done just as high as his little hands could stretch up to.  I turned to my left and my FRIG even got a color job to it!

I just sat down on the floor shaking my head. The tears started to fill up in my eyes.  Why would my son do this?  Hadn't I taught him better than this.  Yeah, the little shit sweetheart was only 2 ...  BUT he is taught better than this.  Or so I thought.

I looked up to Harleigh rubbing my shoulder saying "I only colored the little picture of the cheeseburger over there.  Eythen did ALL the rest."

I looked over at Eythen and he was pointing to his "art work" saying "No No!!!!!"

I looked at him with a "if child protective services would not come for me I would ring your little neck* look and said "You think?"

I then noticed Eythen taking off down the hall.

He turned around to look at me & said "Tome Heeere!"

AKA:  "Come here"

I got up & followed him.

We got into the girls room & there it was!  OH YEAH!!!!  More art work.  My brand new freshly painted walls were now a 2 years olds canvas.

I could not control the crying by then.  I called Clint ... but only gasp of air would come out.

Let me remind you that his new place of employment DOES NOT go for phone calls during work.

Finally when I got the words out and told him ...

He replied with ... "Ok ... I will call you later."

I am not sure what I thought would happen by me calling Clint.  Did I actually think a 2 year old would know that I was calling "Daddy"?  Did I think that would put some fear in him.

Uhhhh ... NO!

He just kept pointing at it saying "No NO!!!"

Clint called me when he got off of work & asked if my tears had stopped falling.  Then he laughed & said "How many Magic Erase's do I need to buy?"

Ok ...  so it all came off, but my walls do look horrible.

Whoever did invent these Magic Erase things needs a noble prize from the Mommy Society.  Seriously people!  They are amazing.  But to the inventor of them ... can they make some sort of Magic Erase thing that will wipe away the terrible two's?!?!??!  Now there is an brillant idea!!!

Update:  Two weeks later Eythen took crayons to the freshly done basement.  WHILE HE WAS ON DADDY'S WATCH.  This time I got a pissed off phone call insisting that I bring home more Magic Erasers ... and perhaps we invest in some stock with them.

Hobby Lobby is stupid ...

My Mom asked Clint and I to swing into Hobby Lobby to get her some embroidery thread that she ran out of.  The first store was out of the color she needed ... but my over achiever Clint decided to drive to another town to get the thread for her.  By this time ... it was pooring down rain ... and there was no way I was about to get out in this weather.  Have fun over achiever Clint getting that thread for my Mom.

*Yes ... he did earn alot of brownie points from my Mom.  She might just like him more than me ... possibly.

Here is the conversation that Clint and I had when he got back in the car ...

TWENTY TWO MINUTES later ...

After he decided to go into Hobby Lobby and seach for the embroidery thread.

Clint:  They really should put ALL the thread in the same section.  I just searched everywhere for the embroidery thread.

Me:  Twenty two minutes to be exact.

Clint:  That is because I went all over stupid Hobby Lobby looking for the embroidery  thread.  It really makes more sense to put it with the normal thread.

Me:  So where would they put all of the embroidery materials that go along with the embroidery thread?  With the cake decorating materials?

Clint:  Yep!  That is exactly where they should put the embroidery materials ... minus the embroidery thread.

Me:  Because that would be with the normal thread.

Clint:  Exactly.

Me:  But the embroidery materials would all go with the cake decorating materials???

*shooting Clint a "what the hell look*

Clint:  Exactly.

Me:  Maybe you should get a job at Hobby Lobby and eventaully take over Hobby Lobby completely.  Forget plumbing.  Plumbing is stupid.  Hobby Lobby is the place to earn your 401K.

*Clint shooting me a "what the hell look this time*

Me:  I am totally blogging about this stupid conversation.

Clint:  Surpirse ... surprise.  On the flip-side!!!  Maybe someone from Hobby Lobby will read your blog and move the stupid embroidery thread with the normal thread.  It just makes more sense.

Me:  Totally.

Leprechaun's born with cute little black shoes and gold buckles ...

Conversation between Clint and I as we were getting ready for bed:

Me:  Is your tongue gonna stay green because you drank all of that green beer?

Clint:  Doubt it.

Me:  Then what fun is it drinking green beer if your tongue will not stay green for at least a few days.

Clint:  Beer is good wether it is green or not.

Me:  What if we decided to have another baby and go pregnant on St. Patrick's Day and all that green beer caused us to have a little leprehaun?!?!?  He would be born with a little red beard and I would dress him in little black boots with gold buckles on them.  OH!  And he would go around saying "Ahoy Matey"!

Clint:  Why would he go around saying "Ahoy Matey"?

Me:  Because that is what little leprechaun's say.

Clint:  No.  That is what pirates say.

Me:  Then what do leprechaun's say?

Clint:  "Give me your pot of gold".

Me:  Why does our leprechaun have to be a bully and take people's gold?  We really should put a stop to this before it gets out of hand.

Clint:  Are we seriously having this conversation?

Me:  Yes!  Good parenting starts with conversation between the parents ... and I do not wanna raise a bully.

Clint:  I am pretty sure you are nuts.  Not nuts like ... haa haa.  Nuts like ... in a straight jacket ... laying in the corner ... in a fetal position.

Me:  If you think I am nuts ... please remember that you married me.  Who is nuts now?

Clint:  Good point.

Eythen vs. The bunk bed

It is "Flash Back Friday" people.

I have decided to dedicate Fridays to my past blog post from a few years back or until I get tired of it and completely forget that I even started this.

My blog has taken on a life of its own ... and I have gained so many loyal readers throughout the past year ... that I want to give those of you a chance to laugh at me get to know me ... kind of like ... where it all began type of thing.

For those of you that were here from the begining ... all 3 of you ... enjoy a flash from the past and enjoy the chuckles along the way.

............

I sometimes feel like life needs to stand still so I can catch up. I have meaning to blog about this "ordeal" since the moment it occured . . . but I can not seem to find the time to even get laundry done ... let alone blog.

I have to say this specific day ... was one of the most stressful and tearful days I have had since Clint had to leave move 3 hours away for work.

It was the Wednesday before Labor Day.

Up until this day ... Clint and I thought he would be coming moving back home that Friday . . . but we had not told anyone just incase "shit life happened" and it did not work out.  This certain day was also a sad and teary day for me for the certain fact that it was Harleigh's last day doing the half day kindergarten.  It was my last afternoon with my "Harleigh Bug" in the house.  The house was not going to be the same with my baby girl at kindergarten ALL DAY LONG!!!

Around 1:00 ... the phone rang.

Clint's number was on caller id.

I instantly knew something was wrong . . . he never calls during work.

I did not even answer with a "hello" ... instead ... I said "What is wrong".

I heard Clint's voice on the other end say "They want me to stay and work at this construction site till Thanksgiving ... or possibly Christmas".

At that moment I heard Eythen screaming down the hall.

I hollard at him to knock it off ... I thought him and Harleigh were pretending to be ninjas for the ba-zillionth time ...

Clint went on to tell me that they offered him the position to take over the whole job site . . . BUT he would be there till Thanksgiving ... OR CHRISTMAS!!!

Holy HELL!!!

Yes ... count them with me now ... that is SIX MONTHS that I am doing the "single parent thing".  God Bless all you single parents out there ... you are rockstars in my eyes.

Suddenly I heard Eythen scream again ...

I told him to quit screaming because Mommy was on the phone.

Harleigh answered back with "He is stuck Momma".

What?

Did she just say he was stuck?

I walked down the hall with the phone to my ear still trying to hear what Clint was telling me.

Then I saw it . . . Eythen was laying on the top bunkbed with his leg hanging through the wooden guard rails. His leg was even beginning to turn a bit blue.

Phone in hand ... I reached for Eythen's leg and tried to push it back out . . . it would not budge.

As Eythen began to panic a bit and cry a bit harder ... I threw the phone down and ran down the hall.

My first thought was to find the little screwdriver that goes to the special screws in the buckbed.

If I could find it ... maybe I could get one of the screws out.

Where the heck was it?

I could not find it anywhere. I run back down the hall as Harleigh says to me "Daddys says to just break the bed."

Oh yeah ... Clint was still on the phone!!!

Break the bed. . . is he kidding me . . . how was I suspose to break a wooden bunkbed???

I pushed and pulled on the guard rail . . . it would not budge!

What in the world was I going to do?

I needed my husband and he was THREE fucking hours away.

I ran out to the garage trying to come up with something to "free" my son.

I spotted Clint's little hand held saw in the tool storage drawer.

I grabbed it and took off, back up the stairs.

As I got up the stairs I heard Harleigh saying "Grammy J. ... you have to come quick.  Eythen is stuck." Harleigh had now called my Mom.  Which by the way ... my Mom is TWO fucking hours away.

As I walked towards Eythen with the saw ... his eyes got huge.  Poor baby must have thought I was gonna preform an amputation or something.

I was not sure where ... or what ... I was going to saw ... but I had to figure out something.

As I was debating on what part of the bed to "saw" ...  Harleigh was hollaring out ideas that my Mom must had been saying to her.

Call 911!!!

Go get a neighbor!!!

Use butter!!!

BUTTER???  Seriously???  BUTTER???  I actually had to take a moment out of the "panic" and say to myself  "Did she really just suggest, butter?"

Ok ... now back to the panic ...

I sawed as much of the bunkbed railing as I could.

It was not easy doing it.

I got a piece of the guard rail apart a bit ... I told Eythen to pull as I pushed.

Suddenly his leg moved a little bit.  It was not much ... but I felt it . . . we pushed/pulled one last time and suddenly his leg was out!!!  He had major marks on his leg ... from where it was in between the guard rail ...

BUT ...

He could move it.  Lordy be!!!

I grabbed him off that top bunk and fell to the floor hugging him.  I was so relieved that I just began to cry.

That was my first holy shit balls thing big thing to happen since Clint had been gone for work that I had to "deal with" by myself.

Oh yeah . . . the following day Harleigh shut Eythen's finger in the bathroom door.  Just another ordinary day in my household.

A little bit of heaven ...

I am not a baker.  I really do not care to make desserts.  Besides cookies dough that you can tear apart from the cooler section at the grocery store ... I just do not care to do it that often.

It IS my sisters cup-of-tea ... and she is good at it.  So I normally just reep the benefits of her talent.

But ... I do try to make some yummy goodness every now and then.

There are a few things that the recipe must entail in order for me to even wanna attempt to bake a dessert ...

1.  The picture has to look well worth my time.

2.  There can not be a ba-zillion steps in the recipe.

3.  There can not be a ba-zillion ingredients in the recipe.

So when I came across this yummy bit of goodness ... I decided to try it.

Mommy's Yummy Oats
(My middle daughter decided to name them ...
so I am went with it)

Ingredients:

•2 cups sugar

•1/4 cup margarine

•1/2 cup milk

•1 cup peanut butter

•1 teaspoon vanilla

•3 cups rolled oats (old fashioned)

Directions:

with mashed potatoes

6 to 9 pork chops ... 1/2 inch thick

2 packets dry Ranch Dressing Seasoning

2 cans Cream of Mushroom Soup

Place pork chops ...

Ranch seasoning ...

And soup ...

into a medium sized crock pot over
highheat for 4 hours or low heat for 6 hours.

When pork chop are nearly done ...
Make your mashed potatoes.

I am a pirate ...

When I orginally started my blog ... I just assumed family would be the only ones reading it.

Even then ... I did not assume all my family would even read it.

After all ... how exciting is my semi-orgranized-chaotic world?!?!?!

I never in a million years dreamed that I would have 1000 plus readers a day.

I am still not sure why you guys keep coming back to my blog ...

Other than to thank your lucky stars that you are not in my shoes 90% of the time.

I chuckle ... because it is true.

Anyways ...

I decided to "repost" some of my "beginner" stories from when I started my blog.

That way ... for those of you 1000 plus readers that are not my Mom, Dad or Aunt Cathy that have been following this blog from day one can "get to know" me ... in a cyber-ish-computer-kind of way.

Here is one that I post on Thursday, ... May 22, 2008.

*******

Well, my son got injured AGAIN!

I swear the girls never got hurt this much!

Granted, it could be worse, but it breaks my heart when my baby boy gets an "owie".

Tuesday I got a phone call from the preschool saying that I needed to come get Eythen because he fell down carrying a story book and the corner of it hit his eye and he would not stop crying "for his Mommy" (Mommy's always do make it better . . . let's face it).

So I went and got my baby guy and he had both eyes shut and refused to open either one of them.  When I got him home and finally got him to stop crying, he fell asleep for a couple of hours.  When he woke up his skin around his eye was all red and swollen.  He was crying and almost would shake when he would attempt to open his eye from the pain that it was causing.

So I called the doctor and they said to get him in . . . they thought he scratched his eye.

Well, I was babysitting our neighbors kids that day (of all days for it to happen) . . . so I called Clint and met him in Lawrence and he then took Eythen to the doctor office.

Two hours later, Clint called and said that they put some eye numbing medicine in his eye and that gave the doctor a chance to look at it.  They said nothing was wrong and he would be fine.

He came walking in the door telling us that his eye was open and he could see again ... yes, his exact words.

WRONG!!!

Midnight that night, the medicine must have wore off because all hell in Eythen's world had broke loose!  He was screaming and saying "owie".  He even told us to take him back to the doctor office, "she make it better".

He woke up 7 times between midnight and 3 am.  It was a living nightmare.  He woke back up for the morning around 8, crying all over again refusing to open his eyes at all.

At that age they do not understand just to open the one that is not hurting.

If he even tried to peek out of his eye he would scream.

SO . . . I called the doctor office AGAIN and told them that something was not ok and he needed something to make the pain stop.

SO . . . they got me in with an eye doctor at the hospital for kids.

Needless to say, I got lost along the way trying to find the freaking enterance and building that he was in.  By this point . . . I was about to loose it.  Eythen was crying, I was on my last nerve, I was tired from the night before, and all I wanted was to make things better for E-Man.

We finally got into the office and had to sit and wait for another hour.  But I have to say that they were all SO nice in the office.  They kept coming over to check to make sure Eythen was hanging in there, saying how cute he was, and how patient he was.  To make a longer story short . . . the doctor said that he had THREE scratches on his eye and they have no idea how the first doctor did not see them.  They also said he was a strong boy for making it through the night with no pain medicine.  They said where he scratched it was one of the most painful spots possible.  They gave him some eye numbing drops, which they flat out told me would wear off in 20 to 30 minutes . . . an eye patch and some a perscription for some liquid paid medicine, and sent us on our way.

Eythen thought he was cool walking around with his "pirate patch" on.  The nurses ohhed and ahhed over him.  They loaded him down with toys and stickers . . . and then the 20 minutes hit and the pain medicine had wore off!  So the screaming and crying started all over again.  I truthfully could not get to the pharmacy soon enough for the liquid pain medicine.

We made it through the afternoon, evening and night.  He actually woke up this morning and took off the eye patch and had his eye slightly opened without crying.  He said "Hey guys! I can see you! My eye all better!" It is VERY red, swollen and still not completely open . . . but they were not kidding when they said that kids heal fast and the pain medicine would help him out very much!

Oh yeah . . . a three year old on pain medicine is HILARIOUS!!!

A Saturday off ...

This is the FIRST Saturday ...

Since the SECOND weekend in SEPTEMBER ...

That I do not have to drive to my son's football game and sit on hard bleachers.

That I do not have to drive to my daughter's gymnastic meet and sit on hard bleachers.

That I do not have to drive to my daughter's volleyball game and sit on hard bleachers.

That I do not have to drive to my daughter's traveling basketball tournaments and sit on hard bleachers.

That I do not have to drive to my daughter's dance competition and sit in comfy seats for the entire day.

That I do not have to drive to my son's rec basketball game and sit on hard bleachers. (Ok ... so this drive is all of 2 minutes ... but the bleachers still suck.)

That I do not have to drive to my daughter's rec basketball game and sit on hard bleachers.  (Yeah yeah yeah ... 2 minute drive on this one as well ... but steel bleachers kill my ass hiney.)

Yep ... I have THREE WHOLE SATURDAYS with NO WHERE to be ...

That is until soccer season starts in three weeks and then two weeks after that baseball season starts and one week after that we have a dance competition.

BUT ...

For the next THREE Saturdays I have informed the children NOT to wake up their Mommy unless the house is on fire.  Then ... and ONLY THEN ... are they allowed to open my door and wake me up.

In three Saturdays I will go back to the early Saturday mornings ... being my child's biggest cheerleader.  I will be the gatorade holder.  I will be the uniform washer.  I will be the cut knee mender.  I will be the parent rushing the field out of pure excitement when my son scores a goal.  I will be the parent standing up screaming my daughters names as they walk off the stage after they just danced their heart out.  I will be the parent jumping up and down when my son hits a home run.

I will be the proudest parent in 3 weeks.

But for now ... I am sleeping in.

Happy Valentine's Day to me ...

I found this cool sign on Pinterest that I asked Clint to make me for Valentine's Day.

So like any project that my hubby starts ...

He started off with a bang ...

And I ended up finishing it.

Orginally I wanted to just put a hook on the board ... and then hang a seasonal sign on it at my front door.

But 3 weeks after Valentine's Day ...

I got sick of waiting on Clint to finish it ...

So I decided to put my own spin on the board ...

And came up with this finished project.

I am pretty sure I deserve a pat on the back.

I will have to be sure to thank the hubs for my Valentine's Day gift.

Another successful dinner ...

I am on a roll here people!!!

Chicken nuggets have not been served for 2 weeks now in our house.

I might ...

Just might ...

Be able to cook ...

Thanks to Pinterest.

We LOVE to eat calzones in our house. My oldest daughter would much rather us order calzones than pizza.

Oh my gosh, they are so delicious ... AND ... I just discovered they are so easy to make...seriously!!!  And if I say it is easy ... then you know it is the truth.

Yummy Calzones

All you need is some frozen bread dough, pepperoni, mozzarella, Parmesan cheese and olive oil.

Buy some frozen bread dough. They come in these "log" shapes ... in plastic bags ... sold in the freezer section for about $4.00.

Loosely cover the frozen bread dough with plastic wrap.

Allow dough to rise over night.

FYI:  Spray the plastic wrap with cooking oil, or brush with cooking oil and lay it, oiled side down on the bread dough. This allows the bread dough to rise and move easily under the plastic wrap without it sticking or holding back the dough.  I learned this the hard way.

After the dough has rised ... roll each loaf out into an 11 x 11 square.

One bread loaf ... makes one calzone.

Lay pepperoni on dough covering entire surface.

Sprinkle with shredded mozzarella cheese.

Next ... sprinkle with shredded Parmesan cheese.
Roll up dough starting at one edge of square.

Place rolls on baking sheet ... leaving space between.

Put a few slits on top of each calzone.
Bake it right away. It will rise up in the oven perfectly.

Bake at 375 ... for about 20 to 30 minutes.

This has been a repeat meal in our house for a month now.  My middle daughter especially loves it.  5 out of 5 Moore family members recommend this dinner at your table tomorrow evening.

Another crafty moment ...

I am pretty sure my husband is gonna ban me from Pinterest sooner or later ...

Every day I find a new "creation" I want to make.

And yes ... sometimes it involves the hubs helping me.

BUT ...

This one ... was easy-peezy.

AND ...

It did not require me begging my husband to drill something ...

Nail something ...

Paint something ...

or ...

Weld something ...

Every day we write something different on the board that we are thankful for.

If you know my family at all ...

You will know immediately who wrote what.

If you do not know us personally ...

I will give you three guess on which one Clint wrote ...

And two of the guesses don't count.

Please take a moment and vote for my blog.  Do it now ... before you forget.
